宗萨仁波切：我想要表达我曾经有过的一些想法，这些是关于大乘佛教的。你们有些人也许已经猜到了，我是一个佛教徒，我追随的是大乘佛教。大乘佛教不仅仅是局限在几本教科书里或是方法之中，摩诃衍那这个词，在梵文里，“摩诃”的意思是大，“衍那”的意思是交通工具。这个名字并不是一个诗意的名字，一个随意的名字，也不是一个很自负的名字，也就是说我们好像是最大的，宏伟的，别人都要差。 Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche：I‘d like to express some thoughts that I have had for some time. And that’s about Mahayana Buddhism. As some of you may have guessed, I am a Buddhist and I follow Mahayana Buddhism. And Mahayana Buddhism is not limited to few books of teachings or methods. Actually, the word Mahayana, “Maha“ in sanskrit means “great“, “grand“; “yana“, “vehicle“. So that name is not just a poetic, arbitary name given. It is also not a Chauvinistic name, you know like, we are the greatest, you know, we are grand, the others are less.  大乘佛教名称由来（资料图 图源网络） 说大有一个原因，它开始就有一个很宏大的见地，因为他有一个很大的见地，所以，他有一种宏大的态度，宏大的活动，宏大的方法，宏大的方便法门等等。所以，我们今天所知道的大乘的方法不应该说是大乘的全部，也许有很多的大乘的叫法和方法我们从来都没有听说过。 There is a reason why it’s called Mahayana. “Maha“, it has a grand view to begin wish. And because it has a great, grand view, it also has grand attitude, grand activity, methods, skillful means so on and so forth. So Mahayana vehicle that we know of today, we should not say that this is the only Mahayana that exists.
